ok... so if i had to choose one profession within graphic design and that would be it for the rest of my life... wait. that's a bit drastic.
let me start over. i was having a conversation with a friend this past weekend about the paths we would want to take upon graduation (she's also a graphic designer). it was interesting to find out that our interests were the exact opposite of one another! haha! go figure.
if she had to choose a profession within graphic design to concentrate on upon graduation, she said that it would be identity + systems/logo designs. whoa. not that i hate it or anything, but definitely not something that i can find myself getting excited over... ever since i took my first identity/logo class as an 'intro to graphic design class' i could never get myself to really enjoy identity/logo design. i can definitely appreciate it and enjoy witty identity systems created by talented designers, but as far as designing them all the time? hmm... let's just say i wouldn't be jumping out of bed to do it. (unless of course it was for someone or something that i am passionate about.)
on the other hand, for myself, if i had to choose one profession to concentrate on, it would be package design. i love typography/type design and layout design to a certain extent, hey, maybe even some graphics for clothing, but package design definitely tickles my fancy. it calls out to me. oh yes. on the other hand, my friend just cringes at the thought of package design. she says that she would rather go do something else non-design related if she had to do packaging. huh. so funny how we are both graphic designers, getting the same type of education at the same institution and yet so different in what we are interested in~ i find it fascinating how people are so different~
anyways, with that said, i stumbled upon Pearlfisher's website and just like some of the other package design companies, was drooling at all the wonderful design work they have done. especially this one below.
fortnum & mason's tea packaging... i am in love.
